History

Yoga for pregnancy was not initially considered a separate yoga part worth studying, as pregnancy was perceived as a natural procedure for women. Thus, pregnant women would practice yoga in a regular yoga class together with other students. The emphasis was put on the fact that pregnancy is an absolutely healthy and natural process.

Nowadays, pregnancy is viewed as an illness and women about to enter this phase experience physical, psychological and emotional stress. As a consequence, they encounter difficulties in conceiving or maintaining a smooth pregnancy.

For this reason, EyZein and Ms Chatzipanagiotou have decided upon creating this particular type of prenatal and postnatal yoga workshops.

Designing the workshop

Being a prerequisite that pregnancy is the distillation of the nature's wisdom for the species evolution and a most powerful and treasured procedure, those Yoga workshops have been designed through some self-discovery yoga techniques, as yoga is the science or art and philosophy which looks into the nature via a process of self-reflection. During the classes what is established is the uniqueness of every single pregnant woman as well as the period of pregnancy itself along with the need for self-discovery and self-reflection, while special and general knowledge is being offered with regard to the pregnant woman?s anatomy, the mental, emotional and physical support with Hatha yoga practices, pranayama breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques.

The workshop goal

The goal of this workshop is to introduce the yoga teachers - through the appropriate training- to the mysteries of life evolution and to the comprehension of the delivery process and the post-natal rehabilitation with the holistic knowledge that yoga techniques offer. Pregnant women and mothers will fathom the significance of motherhood and the importance of the role which the mother-mature has assigned to them.
